Cincinnati Reds at St. Louis Cardinals

Picks: Cardinals ML (-118)

The fade Wade Mikey experiment continues…Miley has been brutal in 2020, barely getting out of the first inning is his first two starts. There was a line move towards the Cardinals pushing them all the way up to -130. Miley was actually decent in this start, but the Reds offense could not get anything going against Kwang-Hyun Kim. Kim was great in his first full start, throwing 6 shutout innings. Both the Reds and the Cardinals offenses should be better in 2020. I was hoping to see the Cardinals get going against Miley but it’ll have to wait.

Final: 3-0 Cardinals

Los Angeles Lakers vs. Portland Trail Blazers

Pick: Under 224.5

Talk about getting the right number! This line was all over the place, opening at 225, moving as low as 223 and then back up to 225. I was having a tough time deciding if I thought the under money or the over money was the true sharp move. I decided that the under was the play in this one, because of the number that we got.

The under looked great in the first half, with a total of 110. However the two teams erupted for a total of 69 points in the third quarter, almost spoiling the game. Everything about this game was too close for comfort, including the -7.5 spread on the Lakers. The fourth quarter stopped the blistering pace of the third, but we almost got the loss after Portland decided to foul while down 11 points with less than 45 seconds left on the clock. And then to top it off, CJ McCollum got some extra points in, scoring a wide-open layup with only five seconds left, after the Lakers were content to dribble it out. All you can do is be thankful we got the right number!

Final: 116-108 Lakers

Arizona Diamondbacks at San Francisco Giants

Pick: Diamondbacks ML (-152), Diamondbacks F5 ML (-125)

Just when you thought the D-Backs were snapping out of their early season funk, they can’t seem to score runs again. I thought this price was way too low to back Gallen, but it just goes to show that when things look too good to be true they often are. Gallen was great, except for his command early on. Three first inning walks cost us the only run scored in the first five innings. Gallen threw way too many pitches early, setting up the Diamondbacks disastrous bullpen to secure a 2U loss for us. Although the pricing seemed off, I can’t be too angry with these plays. A costly first inning pitch-count wise ended up being the losing factor. And by the way, raise your hand if you had Tyler Anderson pegged for a complete game victory…

Final: 5-1 Giants

Overall:

Daily Figure: 3-3 (-0.24U)
Weekly Figure: +0.70U
